Our Amazing School Year

SCHOOL NOTES FROM ANDREA:

SOME HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR NEXT AMAZING SCHOOL YEAR, 5768

*       Next year, we will continue with our commitment to feed the hungry. In addition to participating in Mazon, Family Table and the Walk for Hunger, we will add more projects to help fight hunger.

*      Our Ozrim will take on even more responsibility next year.  They will lead some of the clubs that we are going to run on Sunday morning and teaching small groups of students Hebrew-under the supervision of the teachers and their coordinator.

*     We have at least six seventh graders next year and we will run a class just for them to meet the special needs of this age group. Our goal is also to help them create a bond of friendship that will continue through high school and beyond.   We have an exciting program planned for them which includes family Torah study with the Rabbi and possibly even a retreat.

*       Wednesdays will be different next year.  The Rabbi and I will be doing all of the teaching.  The curriculum will consist of prayer study, a prayer service, the study of prophets and an exploration of ethics.

*    In the course of the year, each class will have one family education program focused on learning about, making and using a ritual object. The PreK-Kindergarten, for example, will be studying the Shema and they will make mezuzot which have the Shema in them. The families will be able to take the mezuzot home and hang them on the doorposts of their homes.

*      On Sundays, we will run a series of chugim (clubs) for the students for part of the time.  The students will be able to pick from music, book group, cooking etc.  Everyone will have the opportunity to participate in several chugim during the course of the year.

*       Our youngest students will be participating with their families in a Jewish book project. They will take a book home from our library, read it together, and then once during the year, each family will read a book to the class and plan a class project around it.

*      Stay tuned for more exciting information about our wonderful school.  The first day of next year is Sunday, September 9th.

                   See you then!!
