Title: Armand Cohen Climate Change: What Are the Real Options?
Speaker(s): Armand Cohen
Start: 10:00 am
End: 12:00 pm
Location: Eitz Chayim's Community Room
Description:

Climate change is one of the top U.S. environmental issues. But the discussion is often at the level of slogans and dangerous simplifications. What does the best science tell us about the momentum for climate change and the time we have left to change course? What are the truly viable options we have to reduce dangerous emissions and soak up existing emissions in the atmosphere? Is the emerging “green energy” industry substance, hype, or a little of both?

Armond Cohen, an Eitz Chayim member, is the founder and executive director of the Clean Air Task Force, a Boston-based nonprofit research and advocacy organization that focuses on protection of Earth’s atmosphere. Armond founded CATF in 1996 after starting and running the Conservation Law Foundation’s energy project from 1984-2006. He testifies frequently before Congress and government agencies, speaks to and writes for policymakers in the US and abroad, and has written several scholarly articles on energy and the environment.
