Membership at Eitz Chayim

As a member of Eitz Chayim, you are part of a vibrant, multigenerational, spiritually alive, creative, deeply connected community where every person matters. You also offer crucial support that makes it possible for EC to grow and thrive!

What membership includes:

• Weekly Shabbat services and virtual Torah study

• High Holy Day service tickets for your entire household

• Life-cycle celebrations: baby namings, b'nei mitzvah, weddings, funerals, shiva support, and personal rituals

• Ability to register for our Hebrew School for children 

• Advanced registration and discounted rates for popular classes, meditation retreats, concerts, and special programs

• Pastoral care and spiritual counseling with our Rabbi

• Support from our Caring Committee in times of need

• Member directory access to connect with others

• A sense of belonging in a warm, wonderful community

• Participation at the Annual Meeting, a vote for congregational leadership, and a voice in conversations shaping the future of EC

• The satisfaction of doing the mitzvah of supporting this community!

Membership Contributions

We ask members to donate an amount towards their membership that is meaningful but not prohibitive. If you fit one of these categories and the cost is prohibitive, please contact the office. No one seeking membership will be turned away for financial reasons.

The actual cost to sustain each member household at Eitz Chayim is approximately $4,500 per year. This covers our staffing, programming, Hebrew School, building costs, and everything that makes our community run. But we never want finances to be a barrier to belonging.

Builder Rate: $6,000/year ($500/month)
If you have the financial capacity to give beyond the sustaining level, your generosity makes it possible for others to participate fully regardless of their financial circumstances.

Sustainer Rate: $4,500/year ($375/month)
This is the actual per-household cost to cover our annual budget. If you can pay at this level, you help ensure the financial sustainability of our community.

Couple/Family Rate: $3,250/year ($271/month)
Many households contribute at this level. Your support helps cover the essential costs of running our community.

Individual Rate: $1,750/year ($146/month)
For individuals or one-adult families.

Young Adult Rate: $480/year ($40/month)
For students and people newly in the workforce who cannot afford the individual rate. 

Beyond Dues: Sharing the Work

At EC, we all pitch in! When you join, we ask every household to:

• Sign up to be an “oneg host” at least once a year: Hosting the oneg at a Kabbalat Shabbat service means setting up the space, providing snacks and refreshments, greeting newcomers, and cleaning up. It's a beautiful way to mark a simcha, honor someone's memory, or simply nourish our community, and a great way to meet others. 

• Pitch in for one holiday: We ask all members to choose one holiday to do some legwork for. Whether it's helping set up for High Holy Days, organizing the Sukkah decorating, or delivering mishloach manot bags for Purim, every holiday needs many hands.
